IMG_2339 (2)I never really understood the whole hype about Lush. My friends raved about it, it was constantly shown by YouTubers and on so many of my favorite beauty blogs. But I never really got it, it was a soap store, what was the point? The store always looked intimidating and overwhelming that I’d just avoided it. I received Lush’s Snow Fairy gift set (no longer sold on their website, my apologies) this Christmas from my Uncle & Aunt (thank you by the way) and now understand the hype. Lush is a United Kingdom based company believing in organic, fresh products. The set features the infamous Snow Fairy soap gel, Shimmy Shimmy glitter bar & Angels Delight soap bar. It was wrapped in amazing packaging, although I didn’t get a photo as I ripped it.

Snow Fairy is Lush’s cult favorite scent and I can see why. It smells like a teenage candy store, so close too being too strong, and I didn’t realize there was actual glitter in the soap. Luckily it washes off and isn’t left behind in the shower. Lush believes in having real people make real products, so they put the face of the person who made your product, on your soap. Quite cool actually, but really creepy at the same time.

The Shimmy Shimmy glitter bar lives up to it’s name as it is truly a glitter bar. It smells amazing similar to a vanilla cookie which I love (and everyone’s eyes roll because yet again, Maggie is talking about cookies). The bar is intended to melt in your hand, it does and also melted taking these photos and leaves a lot, emphasis on a lot, of glitter behind.  Funny story, my science teacher actually calls glitter: carpet herpes and that could not be any more true.

I’m actually not the biggest fan of oranges especially the scent so when I read the description for the Angel’s soap I was really hesitant. Luckily it doesn’t smell too strong and washes away, so you don’t have the aroma of a creamsicle popsicle. The bar itself is adorable with gold and white glitter stars in a bigger pink star. It lasts for a long time, I’ve so far used it twice and it has barely been worn away. Lush no longer caries this soap on it’s own in the U.S., sorta strange but whatever.

Overall I quite enjoy my Lush set and am impressed. I have super sensitive skin which wasn’t irritated by these products, unlike most things from the drugstore, so that is a huge plus. The packaging is cute, it smells pretty good and the product itself actually works. I will admit it is a bit pricier than most, you get what you pay for. I’m pretty frugal and probably won’t be buying a ton from there, it’s soap y’all.

Also can I get a whoop whoop for the quality of these photos?! I received a photography light box from my parents (thank you mom + dad!!) and you can totally tell the difference in the lighting!!

Let me know how y’all liked this post in the comments below! I’m planning on doing a ton with my blog in 2015 and want to hear any/all feedback.
